과학의 발전과 함께 광풍처럼 불었던 성형 유행을 넘어, 다시 자연스러운 아름다움을 추구하는 시대가 열리고 있다. 이와 동시에 아름다움을 단순히 독자적인 측면에서 보기보다, 건강을 추구하고 이로 인해 아름다움이 형성되는 인체의 원리로 해석하는 이들이 늘어나고 있다. 이 가운데 자연스러운 아름다움을 과학적 원리 및 관리로 풀어낸 프로그램으로 주목받고 있는 그룹이 국내에 있어 화제가 되고 있다. 바이오 뷰티산업계에 선두로 자리매김한 ‘AN 그룹’이 그 주인공이다. ‘뷰티과학’이라는 새로운 흐름을 이끌어가고 있는 AN 그룹의 박성율 회장을 만나봤다.  <편집자주>

피부도 과학, 건강관리의 관점으로 접근해야

자연스러운 아름다움은 기본에 충실할 때 형성된다. 피부가 가지고 있는 기본적 역할이 원활하게 이루어지는 것이 아름다움에 다가설 수 있는 첫 번째 요건이다. 과학적인 피부관리 및 재생 프로그램으로 세계의 관심을 받고 있는 AN 그룹 역시 ‘자연스러운 아름다움의 유지’에 목표를 두고, 각질제거와 면역력 향상이라는 두 가지 키워드를 중심으로 피부가 하는 일을 극대화할 수 있게 초점을 맞추고 있다.

“3개의 층으로 구성된 우리 피부는 표피의 기저층에서 표피세포들이 분열돼 유극층으로 올라가는데 14일, 과립층에서 각질화해 각질층에서 탈락하는데 14일을 거쳐요. 즉 건강한 주기가 28일이라는 얘기죠. 그런데 스트레스나 노화 등으로 인해 이 주기가 늘어나기도 한답니다”

이어 그는 “피부의 각 층마다 하는 역할이 있습니다. 기저층에서 표피세포가 재생되고, 유극층에서 면역작용을 하고, 과립층에서 수분증발을 막아주고, 투명층은 손,발바닥 등 두꺼운 피부에만 있고, 각질층은 인체를 보호하고 수분손실을 막아주고요. 기저막으로 보호받고 있는 진피는 수분 인자인 히아루론산을 잘 보존해 탄력을 유지하고, 혈관을 통해 표피의 기저층에 산소와 영양분을 공급합니다. 이산화탄소와 노폐물을 제거하기도 하고요”라고 말했다.

박성율 회장은 이와 같이 피부의 각 층마다 역할이 있고 흐름이 있음에도 단순히 속설로 접근하거나 검증되지 않은 약을 먹는 등의 접근이 아직 있다며 안타까워했다.

“흐름을 보시면 아시겠지만, 피부관리는 단순히 외모관리가 아닙니다. 화장품은 피부를 가리는 것이 아니라, 피부의 역할을 잘 살릴 수 있도록 도와주는 역할을 해야 하는 것이지요”

6단계 피부 관리 시스템으로 각광

당장의 이윤을 내는 단명의 제품보다 오래도록 고객과 함께 할 수 있는 건강한 피부의 흐름을 이어가는 제품을 선택했다는 AN그룹은 박성율 회장이 직접 기업부설 연구소를 총괄지휘하면서 연구개발 초기부터 화장품 개발이 아닌 피부 관리법을 만드는데 주력해 왔다.

그 결과 만들어진 AN 그룹의 “AN A.D.C. Skin Care System”은 피부가 하는 역할을 원활히 할 수 있도록 외적, 내적 도움을 줄 수 있게 만들어진 체계다.

총 6단계로 구성된 이 시스템은 1단계 ‘세안단계’에서 모공 관리를 통해 호흡, 흡수, 배설, 분비가 원활하도록 해 항균력과 면역력을 높이는데 초점을 맞추고 있다. 이 단계에서는 여러 가지 한방성분 및 천연오일이 함유되어 이는 자체개발한 多흰 한방비누로 세안을 한다. 이 비누의 장점은 별다른 스킨케어 없이도 당김없이 빛나는 피부로 만들어준다는 것이다.

2단계 ‘자극단계’에서는 진피의 유두층에 분포되어 있는 모세혈관을 자극해 혈행을 촉진, 산소와 영양분 공급, 이산화탄소와 노폐물 제거에 도움을 줄 수 있게 형성되어 있다. 이 단계에서는 AN A.D.C. 스페셜 팩을 이용해 자연스럽게 각질제거와 모공축소를 할 수 있다.

3,4,5단계는 ‘영양공급 단계’로 영양분 공급을 통해 표피세포 재생 활성화 및 유수분 밸런스를 유지하는데 도움을 준다. 3단계에서는 눈가를 중심으로 고기능, 고단백, 고농축의 링클 아이크림을 사용할 수 있다. 4단계에서는 화이트닝 에센스를 통해 유수분 밸런스를 잡고 자극단계로 놀란 피부를 진정시켜 줄 수 있다. 5단계에서는 링클크림을 통해 표피세포 재생에 충분한 영양공급을 해 생기있고 건강한 피부로 만들어준다. 6단계 ‘피부보호 단계’는 비비크림을 통해 본연의 자연스러운 피부 색과 가볍고 숨쉬는 피부로 유지해 편안한 느낌을 줄 수 있도록 했다.

국내를 넘어 세계로, ‘독보적 기술력’이 강점

이외에도 몽골, 러시아, 동남아시아, 일본, 인도, 호주 등에서 다양한 활동을 이어나가고 있다. 특히, 지난해에는 중동지역의 이집트, 나이지리아, 모로코, UAE와 MOU를 체결하며 관계 형성의 포문을 열기도 했다.

기업의 사회적 책임이 ‘남는 파이 주기’가 아닌 ‘다함께 파이를 키워 나누는 것’으로 생각하고 있다는 박성율 회장.

그는 “경영의 목표를 건강하고 성공한 사회 공동체를 만드는 것으로 두어야 기업도 생존과 이익을 보장받는다”는 신념을 AN(ALL NATION)에 담아낸 만큼, 기업의 사회적 책임에 남다른 관심을 갖고 있다.

4차 산업혁명이 급속도로 빠르게 온라인과 오프라인의 경계를 허물어뜨리고 있는 지금, 박 회장은 환경제공, 기술이전, 일자리 창출 등 사업자와 소비자의 삶의 질 향상에 좀 더 적극적 역할을 하고자 나섰다.

올해 상반기에 14개의 사업장을 신설, 확장, 이전 오픈한 AN 그룹은 운영비 지원을 아끼지 않는 것으로 잘 알려져 있다. 박 회장은 기업이 적정 이윤을 지향하고 준법 경영을 넘어 윤리 경영을 정착시켜야 한다는 신념으로, 사회적 가치를 창출하고 공유하는 기업으로 나아가겠다는 그림을 그리고 있다.

As we pass through the era of beauty defined by plastic surgery that has become popular with the advancement of science, we are now entering the age of pursuing natural beauty. At the same time, rather than simply focusing on beauty itself, people are now pursuing health, and interpreting it as the principle of the human body through which beauty is formed.

In the midst of this, there is a Korean company attracting attention for its system that unravels natural beauty through scientific principles and care. As ‘AN Group’ is becoming a leader in this bio beauty industry, we decided to meet with Park Soung-Eul, CEO of AN Group and leader of this new ‘Beauty Science’ trend.   <Editor’s Note>

Science of skin, requires a health management approach

Natural beauty is formed by focusing on the basics. The first requirement to achieve beauty is to allow the skin fulfill its basic roles.

AN Group, which is attracting global attention through its scientific skin care and regeneration program, aims to help ‘maintain natural beauty’ by maximizing the skin’s role centered around two key ideas: exfoliation and enhancing the level of skin immunity.

Park Soung-Eul, CEO of AN Group, stresses that “skin is part of the body and therefore skin care is health care.”

AN Group, which is putting all effort into enhancing the level of skin immunity and regeneration based on the science of skin, notes that it’s vitally important to have a proper understanding of how the skin works.

“For our skin, which consists of three layers, it takes 14 days for epidermal cells to divide at the basal layer of the epidermis and travel to the spinous layer, then it takes another 14 days for the cells to die and exfoliate at the cornified layer. In other words, a healthy cycle is 28 days. However, stress or aging can extend this period.”

He added that “Each skin layer has its own role. In the basal layer, epidermal cells are regenerated. The spinous layer is responsible for skin immunity; the granular layer prevents moisture from escaping; the stratum lucidum only exists in thick parts of skin such as on the hands and feet; and the cornified layer protects the body and prevents it from losing moisture. The dermis is protected by a basilar membrane which preserves hyaluronic acid, a moisturizing factor, and maintains elasticity. It also provides oxygen and nutrients to the basal layer through blood vessels and removes carbon dioxide and waste.”

CEO Park feels regretful that there are still unproven approaches using medicine or folklores for skin while disregarding the roles and life cycles of each skin layer.

“As you can see, skin care is not just managing appearance, and makeup should not be used just to cover the skin but actually to help skin carry out its roles properly.”

Six-Step Skin Management System Gaining the Spotlight

Rather than creating a short-lived product just for profit, AN Group chooses to create products that will help customers build a long-lasting course leading to healthy skin. CEO Park Soung-Eul has been overseeing the research lab himself from the beginning stages of developing skin care methods that are not just simple makeup.

The resulting “AN A.D.C. Skin Care System” helps skin internally and externally so that it can carry out its roles properly.

The six steps are as follows. The first step, the ‘cleansing step’, focuses on enhancing the antibacterial and immune level by enhancing the skin’s ability to breathe, absorb, excrete and secrete. In this step, cleansing is done using the company’s very own Da Huin Oriental Herbal Soap which contains various herbal ingredients and natural oils. The benefits of this soap are that it will not leave the skin feeling tight and it will create radiant skin without the need for any special skin care steps.

In step 2, the ‘stimulation step’, capillary loops distributed in the papillary layer of the dermis are stimulated to help promote blood circulation, and ultimately to provide oxygen and nutrients, as well as to remove carbon dioxide and waste. In this step, AN A.D.C. special mask helps naturally exfoliate and tighten pores.

Steps 3, 4, and 5 are ‘nourishing steps’ where nutrients help regenerate epidermal cells and the balance moisture/oil of the skin. In step 3, high functioning, high-protein and highly concentrated wrinkle eye cream is used. In step 4, the whitening essence helps balance the skin’s moisture/oil while calming the stimulated skin from the stimulation step. In step 5, the wrinkle cream helps provide sufficient nutrients that will regenerate the epidermal cells and create bright and healthy skin.

In step 6, the ‘skin protection step’, BB cream matching the natural skin color is used, which is also light, breathable and comfortable on the skin.

‘Remarkable technology’ going beyond Korea to reach the world

AN Group operates a branch retail store in Hebei China. It is also expanding its regions to its surroundings such as Shijiazhuang, Dalian etc. Since the incorporation of its office in Shanghai seven years ago, its brand is gaining recognition and interest all over China. It is aggressively expanding its business not only in China but also in USA, centered around the New Jersey area.

Park SoungEul believes that the social responsibility of a company is not to “give out left over pie” but to “build the pie together and share it.”

With the belief that “a company, in order to exist and make profit, should aim to create a healthy and successful social community” conveyed through its name, AN (ALL NATION), Park has great interest in the responsibilities a company has in the society.

While the Fourth Industrial Revolution is rapidly tearing down online and offline boundaries, Park is on the forefront playing an active role to enhance the quality of life of business owners and clients, in terms of the business environment, technology transfer, and job creation.

AN Group, which has created, expanded and transferred 14 business places in the first half of the year, does not spare money when it comes to supporting operations. Park believes that a company must aim for an appropriate amount of profit and establish an ethical business which goes beyond law observance, and envisions developing a company which creates and shares social value.
